Start/Sit: Three QBs to Play, Even If You Don’t Beleive It
Another NFL weekend is approaching quickly. We’re here to help you in your lineup decisions.
Start ‘em
Quarterbacks
Trent Edwards: The Bucs pass defense looked lost against the Cowboys last weekend and Edwards had a good game against the Patriots. Put those two things together and you have an even bigger came from Edwards on Sunday.
Matt Schaub: He looked out of sync in week one against the Jets. I’ve seen a lot of questions about benching him against a tough Tennessee defense, but I believe he is an every week starter unless you have a stud QB. And just take a look at the yardage Big Ben put on the Titans. Unless you have a stud QB don’t bench Schaub.
Kyle Orton: Traveling to Cincinnati last week I was down on most of the Broncos, but now that they are back home, healing and playing the Browns, I’m much more optimistic.
Running Backs
Darren McFadden: McFadden looked very quick and strong against the Chargers last week and he should have little trouble running over the Chiefs.
Leon Washington: Look at Fred Jackson’s game against the Patriots lat week and then look at Lean Washington’s skill set. We could see a similar game.
Fred Jackson: The Bucs gave up a lot of yards through the air against Dallas, but also had trouble against the run. Jackson does both. Get him in your lineups.
Wide Receivers
Terrell Owens: He didn’t give his QB a big vote of confidence by saying he should look down field more. I think the Bucs who were shredded by Tony Romo will give up some yards to TO and Edwards.
Justin Gage: Houston got beat by a rookie. Collins and Gage will continue to hook up like they did against a good Steelers’ D last week.
Santana Moss: I would never own Moss because he is erratic, but that is one of the reasons I’m saying start him this week. He has an easy matchup against the Rams and last week his numbers were horrid.
Sit Down!
Quarterbacks
Carson Palmer: Lambeau isn’t the place you go to rebound from a heart breaking defeat. Green Bay’s 3-4 pressure defense will remind Carson of the Steelers and his knee will run away.
Mark Sanchez: Okay, he proved me wrong last week. Can he do it again? I don’t think so. He is good, don’t get me wrong, but Belichick will swirl his brain with his mind power. Look for the Patriots defense to confound the rookie.
Jay Cutler: I don’t expect another four interception game from Cutler, but these are the Steelers we’re talking about and with their linebackers taking away Olsen, it will be tough for Cutler not to have to force the ball to his wide receivers like he had to against a different 3-4 D in Green Bay.
Running Backs
Mike Bell: If Pierre Thomas plays, Bell’s role will be reduced somewhat, but the real concern is the Eagles D which looked tough in week 1.
Kevin Smith: If you can avoid starting running backs against the Williams Wall it’s probably a good idea. Smith is the focal point of the Lions offense so he will eek out some stats, but it will be a tough go.
Joseph Addai: The Dolphins shut down Michael Turner last week and should be able to keep Addai bottled up.
Wide Receivers
Dwayne Bowe: He says they will go after Nnamdi Asomugha. Those have been the last words of many a wide receiver.
Braylon Edwards: Champ Bailey looks like he’s healthy and Braylon has a dink and dunker not getting him the ball.
Desean Jackson: Kevin Kolb is no Donovan McNabb. We will see a lot of check downs to Westbrook on Sunday. Desean will be praying for DMac’s rib to heal quickly.
