Boise State’s football program used to retain a spot in the public consciousness solely on the merits of their blue football field, but these days, they’re showing that they actually play some good football on said field. On Friday night they visit unranked Fresno State on their green-grassed stadium.
Fresno State Hosts No. 10 Boise State
Fresno St. is a nine-point underdog, but they figure to put up much more of a fight than Boise St.‘s last opponent (Miami of Ohio lost, 48-0). Boise St. running back Ryan Mathews racked up 213 yards on 30 carries last week, though they ultimately lost to Wisconsin in a double-overtime heartbreaker. Mathews sounds eager to pick up where he left off.
“I’m anxious to play (Friday) just because I think we are going to be tested in a much different way,” Petersen said. “From what I’ve seen of Fresno, they are a power run team. This will be a nice test coming up.”
Boise St., meanwhile, boasts one of the best college quarterbacks in the nation. Kellen Moore threw for 307 yards and four touchdowns last week despite having played less than three quarters. Last year, he put up 211 yards and two touchdowns against Fresno St.
ESPN is broadcasting the game at 9 PM. And if your internet service provider has blessed you with ESPN 360, you can watch it there, too.
