Under the Rule of Mangini, Unpaid Water is Punishable by Massive Fines

The charm offensive Browns head coach Eric Mangini is laying on his new team continues to redefine how this whole morale building thing is done. Takes notes, player coaches.

↵Back in the offseason, there was the matter of forcing his rookies to take a 10-hour bus ride to a charity football camp that he runs. Once players actually reported to training camp, several were carping about overly harsh practices. But that could have been standard bickering from players used to how things go under a previous regime.

↵But fining a player $1,701 for not paying for a $3 bottle of water during a preseason hotel trip, as Mangini is reported to have done, that’s probably not gonna instill any lasting warm thoughts toward the coach. And to think, agents are steering players away from the Browns, and not just for the overwhelming stench of failure.↵
