Tony Romo’s Love Life Still Merits Breathless Speculation

Because despite not meeting expectations on the field year after year, Tony Romo remains one of the few players in the league who becomes tabloid fodder with whatever it is they do in their personal life. Somehow I don’t think Marc Bulger would merit so much as a bold-faced name if he dated a former beauty pageant contestant, but then he doesn’t wear that star on his helmet.↵↵So, anyway, Tony Romo is now being romantically linked with former Miss Missouri Candice Crawford, who now works in Dallas for a Cowboys TV show called Special Edition. Her bio indicates that she has “a passion for sports” or at least for sports players.↵

↵↵Prepare, then, for the masks of Candice Crawford to come out at home stadiums and countless ESPN stories about how any time spent with her will be somehow detrimental to the team. And then Jason Witten will steal a glance at her, and Roy Williams will be jealous that one wasn’t given to him, and he’ll blame Romo and sulk. And then Marion Barber will get hurt, then the entire meltdown and subsequent firing of Wade Phillips will be laid at the feet of Ms. Crawford. And the guilt will be too much to bear and the couple will have to break it off.↵
