We all have those players we just can’t stand. Sometimes for reasons only our therapist can illuminate, but others for reasons with merit. Yahoo’s Brandon Funston takes a look at ten players he hates this season and younger brother tops his list.
Ten Players To Avoid On Draft Day
Eli Manning: The younger Manning is a holdover from my previous "Hate" list because there's just too much love for him still in Yahoo! average live drafts, where he is the 13th QB taken off the board. This despite the loss of receivers Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer, as well as top RB receiving threat Derrick Ward. Last season, Manning finished 15th among QBs in fantasy points. And now he's supposed to be even better?
There are always trends in fantasy that just don’t make sense when you look at them on paper. Eli is one of those this year. Funston takes a look as some other trends in fantasy and helps debunk the thinking behind them. It’s hard to argue with his reasoning.
Sometimes our Super Bowl heroes take on elevated status in our hearts and our draft boards.
Santonio Holmes: Holmes is getting a lot of love for a player that has yet to record a 1,000-yard season or catch more than 55 passes. A Super Bowl MVP does that sometimes. Holmes is immensely talented, no doubt. But his relationship with QB Ben Roethlisberger needs a lot of work. Holmes caught only 48 percent of the passes intended for him last season, and of his 15 career TDs, only seven have come from inside the 20-yard line.
So be careful of the trends and look at all angles. But there really is no need to hate, really, just move them down your draft board, they’ll know.
