While the Florida Marlins drift away from playoff contention, so does their clubhouse chemistry.
Dan Uggla Accuses Hanley Ramirez of ‘Lack of Desire’
Dan Uggla and Hanley Ramirez traded heated words on Wednesday after Ramirez left Tuesday’s game early because of an injury:
The Florida Marlins’ two star sluggers exchanged heated words in a verbal confrontation in the clubhouse Wednesday, forcing a closed-door meeting as the team faded from the playoff picture.
A frustrated and injured Hanley Ramirez said Wednesday that he “got some people upset” for leaving the game early the night before with an injury, then teammate Dan Uggla openly argued with the NL batting leader in the clubhouse.
Uggla accused Ramirez of a lack of desire and effort to win. He also said Ramirez wasn’t caring because he’s already secured a $70 million, six-year contract.
This Ramirez sounds a lot like another Ramirez that plays baseball and can hit home runs.
After they exchanged words, manager Fredi Gonzalez asked all reporters to leave the clubhouse so the team could have a meeting.
