Call me crazy, but we used to believe in laws in this country. We used to believe in noble things like justice, order and locking Red Sox fans in the cellar for weeks on end while forcing them to subsist on unheated Hot Pockets you slid under the door (only the nasty broccoli and chicken ones, too).

Inmate Granted One-Day Reprieve to Be Obnoxious Red Sox Fan

↵↵But apparently these things mean nothing anymore. Not since Iowa judge Benny Waggoner decided to allow Red Sox fan Randy Aaron Barker, presently serving a 10-day jail sentence for “interference with official acts and violation of a protective order” (whatever that means), to attend today’s game against the Royals. Apparently Barker’s attorney petitioned to the court that Barker, along with his father and brother, had “long-term plans” to attend the game. Well, isn’t that nice? Perhaps Barker should have added “don’t get thrown in jail for 10 days” to his long-term plans since he’s such an organized fella. ↵
↵↵This isn’t the Hajj to Mecca, it’s a freaking baseball game, and not a particularly important one either. Remember, the Red Sox traveling to Kansas City isn’t exactly a rarity. Let him learn his lesson and go next year.↵
