The nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame came out and it’s full of the usual washed-up, overrated acts. That’s right, I’m looking at you Genesis. But it also includes the famous groups ABBA and Kiss. While I’m not a huge fan of either band, I have to admit I’d love to see both of them get into the Hall of Fame just to see them on the same stage at the same time. Would there ever be a crazier jam session than ABBA and Kiss? Seeing ABBA do a version of “Heaven’s on Fire” would be worth the price of admission alone. Come to think of it, seeing Kiss cover “Dancing Queen” (with fire!) would be awesomely messed-up.
Fantasy Stat Breakdown: Week 2
Speaking of awesomely messed-up, here are some interesting NFL stats to get through the week:
- Add together the Week 2 rushing yard totals for Frank Gore (207), Chris Johnson (197) and Cedric Benson (141) and you have more total rushing yards (545) than Joseph Addai had all last season (544)
- There are seven running backs averaging more offensive yards per game than Brett Favre. To add insult to injury, one of them is Fred Jackson
- Last week the Rams had more team rushing yards (126) than team passing yards (125). Man, that team is terrible. I could see them going 0-16.
- More proof that one of the dumbest statements in sports is “So-and-so is on a pace to finish with...”: Drew Brees is on a pace to finish with 5,352 passing yards and 72 passing TDs
- Week 2 featured a guy who rushed for 197 yards and 2 TDs --and lost -- in Chris Johnson. It also featured a guy who threw for 436 yards and 2 TDs -- and lost -- in Phillip Rivers. It ALSO featured a guy who threw for 391 yards and 2 TDs -- and lost -- in Kevin Kolb. Geez.
- In Week 1, JaMarcus Russell completed only 12 passes for 208 yards. In Week 2, he completed 5 fewer passes for 99 fewer yards. I don’t think it’s possible for a QB to complete a fraction of a pass, but we might find out with Russell around Week 5.
- Falcons’ K Jason Elam has already missed 2 field goals and an extra point. He’s the only kicker in the NFL to miss an extra point this season.
- Overlooked in Frank Gore’s massive 207 rushing yard game is the fact that QB Shaun Hill completed over 73% of his passes.
- The NFL’s leader in receiving yardage is a tight end, Indy’s Dallas Clark.
- RB Darren Sproles has more receiving yards than Randy Moss. And more receiving touchdowns.
- Dolphins’ K Dan Carpenter hasn’t even attempted a field goal under 40 yards this season (he’s 3 for 4 over 40 yards)
