The Nationals finally did it! After failing to lose their 100th game on Wednesday night, they finally succeeded on Thursday, losing 7-6 to the Dodgers and securing their spot amongst this decade’s Mount Rushmore of baseball ineptitude, right there next to the ‘04-’06 Royals, ‘02-’03 Tigers and the ‘01-’02 Devil Rays.
Nationals: ‘Hey, it Can’t Possibly Get Any Worse Next Season, Right?”
↵But hey, two of those three franchises turned it around and actually won stuff! So, look on the bright side, boys:
↵↵“We’ve got a chance to be really good,” [relief pitcher] Mike MacDougal said. “If you lose 100 games, you have to make a jump the next year, right?”
↵↵Well, you could make a jump. Or you could regress further, and lose 200 games next season. I have faith that the Nats could find a way to make that happen.
