The Bears got on the winning track last week, here’s a report from Windy City Gridiron.
Fantasy Scouting Report: Chicago Bears
Matt Forte – Matt Forte and the Bears have yet to get the run game going, but they remain committed to it. Thus far they have played two tough defenses that both run a 3-4 defense which is harder to run against. This week look for Forte to get things rolling against a soft Seattle Seahawks defense. The Seahawks rank 26th in the league against the run. With the Bears starting to show some rhythm in the pass game, it is only a matter of time until the run game opens up.
Jay Cutler/Johnny Knox – The Seahawks pass defense on the other hand is ranked 2nd in the league allowing only 293 yards a game. That number could be a big misleading, with teams running all over them, they haven’t had to pass much. The Bears have been relying on short passes and yards after the catch and deep routes. Johnny Knox is quickly becoming Jay Cutler’s go to recevier, even though he is only in his first year. Knox has the speed to get open on short routes, to get good yards after the catch or beat 2nd and 3rd corner backs while their #1s focuson Hester or Olsen.
Bears Defense – Seattle is either gonig to start Matt Hasselbeck who is nursing a cracked rib or Seneca Wallace. Either way the Bears defense has been putting the pressue on and have 6 sacks already this season, a huge upswing from last year. They also will have their full secondary together for only the second week. Since Lovie Smith has taken over the Bears, they are tops in the league in takeaways. The Bears are always a good bet to get some takeaways and score even if they are not shutting down a team’s offense.
Careful
Devin Hester - Hester and Cutler hooked up a couple of times in the game against the Packers and Hester caught an important 3rd down toss to keep their game winning drive going, but it is obvious that the one guy Cutler still does not have chemistry with is Devin Hester. He should be no more than your third starter in any week until the two show they are on the same page. Given his speed he is always a threat to catch one long and take it to the house, but you shouldn’t count on it.
