The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette included a few depressing photos of its live blog of Thursday’s Reds-Pirates game. The announced attendance at PNC Park was 15,892, but it sure doesn’t look like it. Here’s a particularly morose update from this poor live blogger:
Directing a Post-Apocalyptic Film? Please Take Note
↵↵The team is passing out certificates to any fans with upper-deck seats to “Please enjoy a seat upgrade, courtesy of the Pirates.” The club level, which covers the first 10 rows of the stadium’s upper deck, is remaining open. As this is being typed, there might not be 200 people here.
↵↵It’s surreal to see a regular-season game populated so sparsely. A setting as eerie as this would be ideal for a post-apocalyptic or disaster flick, though given the Pirates’ quality of play over the last 17 years, I suppose that argument could have been made anyway.
