Crosby’s Status Uncertain For Season Opener

Sidney Crosby stayed in Pittsburgh over the weekend to rest his ailing groin and while there’s some good signs that the injury is progressing, there’s no certainty he will return for the season opener.

“If it was the regular season you wouldn’t want to take a chance on creating an injury that was greater than what you already have,” Bylsma said. “It’s more precautionary and knowing that we have a chance to get healthy in the next few days. It’s a decision about that.”

Bylsma, though, was hoping to have his full lineup for Sunday’s game since it was the final tune-up before the regular season kicks into gear Friday.
