NYT Quad Blog Ranks Florida No. 2

Just how wide is the consensus that the Florida Gators are the team to beat in college football this year? Wide enough that when someone picks any team other than UF, it’s news. Paul Myerberg of the New York Times’ ‘Quad Blog’ has been counting down all 120 FBS teams this offseason and with two days to opening weekend, he’s arrived at the No. 2 team: Florida.

↵↵So why do I have Florida second? Well, the very idea of ranking the entire 120 teams in the F.B.S. in the preseason is a ridiculous notion (this isn’t the first time I’ve considered this notion), as is predicting which team would defeat the other in a hypothetical title game, but I really like Texas – I gave it away! – to win its second national championship of the decade.
