There is fantasy football, there is NFL football, and then there is Bill Belichick football. And Belichick football can mess with your fantasy football. Take the case of Wes Welker. If you own him, you want to know if he’s going to play. He’s spent a lot of time in the training room this preaseason with an injury. Is it serious? What’s injured?
Untitled Update
That’s what we’d like to know.
But if you think the notoriously tight-lipped, hoodie-prince is going to divulge that kind of information, I might send you one of those classic “here’s three mediocre players at middling positions for your stud-RB” trades that generate hilarity every year in leagues across America.
Surely some reporter has asked Welker about his injury. Oh, they have:
“It’s pretty much team policy that we don’t speak about those things,” he told curious reporters on Tuesday.
Any chance you’ll miss the opener?
“Right now, I’m just working hard to get back out there,” he offered. “That’s my goal right now – just continue to work hard on a daily basis and get back there as soon as possible.”
Now, via a KFFL blog, the NFL Network has reported Welker might miss Week 1. (His replacement would be Joey Galloway)
Sure, those Patriot players will get you plenty of points, but the minute injury shows up...don’t expect any help from Belichick.
