Willie Parker Has Turf Toe

Bad news, Willie Parker owners - according to Adam Schefter the Steelers’ lead back is suffering from turf toe. Right now, Schefter is only reporting that Parker will likely sit out of practice, so it’s not clear whether he’ll miss any game time.

Despite sounding somewhat innocuous, turf toe can be debilitating for running backs, because it makes planting the foot and making cuts painful, if not impossible. It’s also an injury that can linger for weeks. LaDainian Tomlinson and Darren McFadden both battled it for a large part of the season last year. Tomlinson played through it, though the injury noticeably hampered his production, while McFadden sat out a few weeks before struggling on his return (though that may have had more to do with the fact that he plays for the Raiders than his physical state).

Mewelde Moore and Rashard Mendenhall should both be snatched up in all formats as insurance.
