For weeks, Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez has remained steadfast that he will play a three-quarterback monster, at least to start the season. Naturally, only one of them would be able to take the first snap so it was expected that one of them would technically be the starter. But by withholding who that one would be, Rodriguez maintained a sense of the unknown, something he could use to his advanage.
Freshman Tate Forcier Named Michigan Starting Quarterback
So much for that.
RichRod announced that freshman Tate Forcier will take the first snap against Western Michigan on Saturday during his radio show Thursday night. That doesn't mean either junior Nick Sheridan or freshman Denard Robinson won't be in by the second offensive play of the game, just that Forcier will be the first one in.
If this was an attempt to give the local media something, anything to deflect attention away from the multiple scandals and off-the-field issues that have surfaced recently... bravo, sir. Otherwise, there doesn’t seem to be much there.
