Mike “Quick” Swick suffered an injury in training this week and has been removed from the UFC 103 card. Swick (14-2, 7 KO, 2 Sub) was scheduled to fight Martin Kampmann in a welterweight title eliminator. The UK Sun reports that British fighter Paul Daley will be the late replacement:
Mike Swick Injured, Out of UFC 103
Daley — who will be making his Octagon debut — told SunSport: "I got the call and I accepted. I came to the UFC to fight the best, and that's what I am going to do.
"Kampmann is on a roll with the UFC, but I will roll over him. Semtex is going to explode onto the UFC's welterweight scene at UFC 103."
The fight certainly loses some of it's punch as Daley, while a great striker, has suffered losses in the last year to both Jake Shields and Nick Thompson. So the idea of him fighting Georges St. Pierre for the UFC title is a bit unrealistic at the moment. Still, an impressive win will mark Daley as a threat to cause some real noise in the UFC's 185 pound division.
