Andy Roddick Stunned at U.S. Open By Fellow American John Isner

No. 5 Andy Roddick fell Saturday night in a five set epic against fellow American John Isner. Roddick lost the first two sets, but battled back to take sets three and four. The fifth set ended in a tiebreak, going to Isner 7-5.

It’s the biggest win of Isner career, who outplayed Roddick for much of the match, especially at the net where he won 63% of the time. Roddick was also out-served, throwing in only 20 aces to Isner’s 38.

Next for Isner is Fernando Verdasco, who played a five-setter today as well, beating Tommy Haas.
