Rodney To Appeal Suspension
Well, that was quick: Tigers pitcher Fernando Rodney has already said he’ll appeal the three-game suspension handed down today. No one was actually hit when threw the ball into the press box, but, ya know, he threw a ball into the press box.
“I was throwing the ball to the fans,” Rodney said afterwards. “[I was] emotional. It’s nothing bad. I know I’m not supposed to throw the ball, but I’m feeling in the moment. ... I don’t throw it to hit nobody. I think if I throw it in the right spot, I don’t hit nobody.” You can watch video of the incident at MLB.com.

Assuming he does not appeal, the suspension will start tonight, with the Tigers in Kansas City to play the Royals.
