Jerry Wainwright Out As DePaul Basketball Coach

Sunday’s rumors have proven to be true: DePaul has fired head coach Jerry Wainwright following four seasons of sub-.500 basketball and a winless record in the Big East last year. He will be replaced on an interim basis by assistant coach Tracy Webster.

A source has told ESPN.com that DePaul has decided Jerry Wainwright will not remain the head coach of the Blue Demons and will make the announcement at a news conference Monday morning.

It would be the icing on the cake for Wainwright’s week. He suffered a a torn MCL and fractured tibia in a collision with a player on Wednesday.
