Monday night, No. 4 Villanova found themselves trailing Louisville by 17 points early, and seven at the half. A rally in the final 20 minutes (the Wildcats outscored the Cardinals 56-41 in the second half) sealed the narrow eight-point win. So what was the key to Villanova’s late-run? Strong defense? Good bench play? Effective press? No, no and no. The answer is simple, just two words: Scottie. Reynolds.
Key To Villanova’s Win: Scottie Reynolds
↵Reynolds, who must be a seventh-year senior at this point, finished with 36 points, 30 of which came in that second half. He shot 9-10 from the field, including all five of the three-point shots he attempted, and went ahead and finished 13-for-17 from the free throw line, too, just for good measure.
↵For comparison’s sake, Clarkson University, a DIII team in New York, managed just 37 points total in their loss to Cornell tonight.
