Spurs Rout Lakers 105-85, Hand Lakers Second Straight Loss
San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - Tim Duncan scored a game-high 25 points with 13 rebounds as San Antonio routed the Los Angeles Lakers, 105-85, at AT&T Center.
Tony Parker added 22 points with six assists, while George Hill provided a spark with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting and six assists in the win. San Antonio assisted on 29 of 47 made baskets and won three of four on a homestand.
Andrew Bynum led the Lakers with 23 points and eight rebounds, while Lamar Odom notched a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six assists. Surprisingly, Kobe Bryant attempted just 10 shots, making seven for 16 points with just one rebound and three assists. The Lakers have lost three of four.
San Antonio led 27-23 after one stanza and turned up the heat during the second period. The edge grew to 39-30 on a Roger Mason three a little over three minutes in and the advantage reached double figures at 42-32 on a Grant Hill three-pointer about a minute later. The Lakers went without a field goal for nearly four minutes in the period, and Duncan's free throw with 3:38 to go opened a 49-35 edge.
The Spurs led 53-41 at the half and quickly built an 18-point lead just over four minutes in. Parker scored nine points during the stretch including a jumper for a 67-49 lead. The point guard’s jumper one minute later gave San Antonio its largest lead of the game, 71-49.
The Spurs edge shrunk to a dozen at 75-63 after 36 minutes of game action, and the Lakers got within six at 85-79 on Derek Fisher’s layup with 5:38 to play, but the Spurs dominated the final five-plus minutes.
San Antonio notched the next eight points capped by Parker’s bucket for a 93-79 game and the remainder of the contest was played with the victors in control.
San Antonio improved to 17-6 at home this season...Lakers forward Pau Gasol missed his fourth straight game with a hamstring injury...The Spurs shot a scorching 57.3 percent from the floor, but made just 4-of-11 free throws...The Lakers, in turn, made 44.2 percent of their shots and 15-of-16 from the charity stripe.
