To literally no one’s surprise, Dan Henderson’s first opponent under the Strikeforce banner will be the current middleweight champ, Jake Shields. Henderson officially made the announcement on ESPN’s MMA Live.
Dan Henderson Vs. Jake Shields Announced For Strikeforce On CBS In April
The 2005 Pride Welterweight Grand Prix Tournament Champion signed with Strikeforce in December of last year after a very public contract dispute with the UFC ended with no resolution. Hendo’s last fight came at UFC 100 where his vicious knockout of Michael Bisping has already gained legendary status.
Jake Shields will be putting his impressive 13-fight win streak on the line when he welcomes Henderson to Scott Coker’s brand of MMA. And though Henderson will undoubtedly be Shields’s toughest challenge to date, his last three victories have come against some pretty stiff competition having defeated Mayhem Miller, Robbie Lawler, and new UFC welterweight wrecking machine, Paul Daley.
