The NHL Conspiracy Against Detroit Continues. Isn’t That Right, Wings Fans?

It’s no secret that Red Wings fans (not all, but a lot) believe that the NHL has it out for Detroit. Now I don’t believe for a second that the league would actually conspire against such a successful team, a dynasty no less, but you have to admit that there are an abnormally high amount of controversial calls that have gone against Detroit in recent years.
The most recent of which happened during yesterday’s game between the Dallas Stars and the Wings. In the sixth round of the shootout, Steve Ott appeared to have just missed scoring a goal when Jimmy Howard stopped it on the goal line. The referee agreed. Then this happened:

↵In short, it appears the original call was no-goal, then Toronto inexplicably overturned it. In reality, the official ruling was a good goal, and Toronto didn’t have enough proof to change it.

↵Here’s the official explanation from NHL head of officiating Rob Martell:

↵↵Actually, the linesman who was on the goal line on the other side of the net and the back referee who was trailing the shooter both confirmed the puck was 100 per cent over the line. The referee on the goal line was blocked out and did not see the puck cross the line and therefore waved it off from his angle. It went to replay in Toronto and replay was inconclusive so the call on the ice stands.
