There are many heros and goats from Sunday’s AFC Divisional playoff game in San Diego, which the Jets narrowly won, 17-14. The Jets’ defense held the Chargers to just 14 points and under 300 yards passing. Running back Shonn Greene ran for 128 yards, including a 53-yard touchdown run to put the game away half way through the fourth quarter. Mark Sanchez managed just 100 yards passing. But maybe the one player who had the biggest influence on the game was Nate Kaeding.

↵On Sunday, he missed not one, but three field goals. And this followed a regular season during which he missed a total of just three FGs in 35 attempts (that’s over 91% made). He’s a career 87.2% kicker, and has never missed more than five in one year. But today, his missed three.
↵Sure, the 57-yarder is understandable -- that would have tied his career long -- but the 36-yard and 40-yard attempts were just flat-out misses. If he makes just one, things are a bit different at the end of that fourth quarter. Makes ‘em both, and we’re talking about San Diego heading to Indianapolis.
