Takanori Gomi Signs With UFC

MMAFighting.com with the scoop on a huge lightweight signing:

Takanori Gomi, once considered to be one of the best lightweight fighters in the world, has signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC. MMAFighting.com learned of the acquisition from sources on Friday.
No word on when and where Gomi will make his debut for the UFC. The organization has yet to officially announce the signing.

There is some debate as to where Gomi is right now in his career given that he certainly is not the dominant fighter he was years ago. He still possesses a good amount of skills and at his best is a handful for anyone. But, he also almost got knocked out by Tony Hervey who recently lost a fight in King of the Cage. So it is obvious that he is not the force he once was.

Still, there are a number of very interesting fights for Gomi in the UFC and it will be interesting to see what they want to do with him. Will it be a move directly into a title shot? Or will there be an attempt to familiarize American fans with him first?
