Elisabeth Hasselbeck Is Better Than Her Husband At Everything

â†µTo call Tim Hasselbeck a journeyman quarterback is a disrespect to journeymen. As his brother joked in this video, Tim may have played, at one point or another, for every team in the NFL. And he may be very good at talking football for a living as one of the 700 NFL analysts ESPN employs too. But one thing is for certain – he’s not as good as his wife. â†µ

â†µâ†µThe female Hasselbeck was an analyst on NFL Live yesterday in part of a wife swap – or something like that – with ESPN’s football show and The View. Tim will sit at the desk of the view in a few days and get yelled at by Joy Behar and whoever replaced Whoopi Goldberg. (Googling…) Oh, Whoopi Goldberg is still there. Very well then. â†µ

â†µâ†µHasselbeck sat in the ESPN studio with NFL Live host Trey Wingo and first-year analyst Teddy Bruschi and not only joked around with her brother-in-law for a few minutes, but actually gave some really good football insight. On coaches reportedly turning down the Buffalo job before Chan Gailey was hired, Hasselbeck gave some interesting perspective from the wife of a former player:â†µ

â†µâ†µâ‡¥In this economy, if a job been open that long, you gotta wonder about the job. Every single person [approached to be] on that staff is going to be having this conversation with their wife and family, “Hey, we’re going to a team. It’s in a really tough division. We’re going to play the Patriots twice. We’re going to see Miami twice. They don’t have a really good market and the weather’s kinda bad. What do you think about the move?”â†µâ†µâ†µShe makes a good point. And when she was asked to break down the Jets defense or give her picks, she didn’t sound like a moron. In fact, she was so good that it really almost took the fun out of it. Wingo did an excellent job handling the show and keeping it fun and light but not dumbing it down too much that the regular viewers would feel alienated. And he didn’t need to anyway – after all, she’s in a football family, so she should know a thing or two about the game. And, as she showed, she really does. â†µ

â†µIt makes you wonder how hard this whole 'analyzing football on TV' thing is. Seriously, she wasn't asked exceedingly tough questions at any time in the show, but if the wife of a former career backup can sound like she knows what she's talking about when breaking down a playoff match-up, there's hope for all of us. Or hope for our wives. â†µ

â†µâ†µSure there’s the thought out there that ESPN picked a bad time – the most important playoff week of the year – to pull a ratings gimmick and affect their product in the process – but honestly, how much football analysis do you need at four in the afternoon on a Tuesday? â†µ

â†µâ†µWhatever you think of her political views, she is very seasoned on television and far easier on the eyes than her husband. ESPN may have landed something here. Can they make the swap permanent? â†µ

â†µâ†µAnd can she throw a tighter spiral than her husband? Safe bet says yes. â†µ
