Anderson Silva’s, and seemingly every Brazilian fighter’s manager, Ed Soares, was an in-studio guest on this week’s Inside MMA on HDNet. And while we’re used to Soares holding nothing back when it comes to news items or requests dealing with his clients, mainly Anderson Silva’s displeasures with his scheduled opponents or contradictory statements regarding Silva’s injuries, what he had to say this week to Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten was particularly interesting.
Anderson Silva Eyeing Move To Heavyweight?
↵↵“He wants to be in the biggest fights possible, where it’s GSP, whether it’d be at light heavyweight, or whether it’d even be at heavyweight,” Soares said. “It doesn’t make a difference. He wants to be involved in the biggest fights possible.”
↵↵Heavyweight? Like... where... heavyweights fight? Now, there has been previous talks about a match between Frank Mir and Silva, and while both fighters seemed to have been interested in the bout, I doubt such a contest will ever take form. And with a date set for UFC 112 against dangerous MIDDLEWEIGHT fighter Vitor Belfort, Silva has smaller things to be worrying about. Literally.
