Roger Federer Was Almost The Wizard Of Oz

Watches, chocolate and Roger Federer -- Switzerland’s biggest exports (Sorry army knives).

↵But were the Swiss people ever in jeopardy of not having the 15-time grand slam winner to call their own?

↵You betcha.

↵At 12 years old, the Federer family lived in Australia while Roger’s father worked. But the Federers didn’t just temporarily live down under. They contemplated moving there.

↵↵“I remember my parents having a debate, ‘Are we moving away from Switzerland to come live over here?” Federer said.

↵↵

At one point, the Federers asked their children their opinion. To think, Federer was one three-word answer away from shoving Lleyton Hewitt off the continent's fan-radar.

↵Mates, Roger could have been singing a different tune.
