In Progress: No. 3 Kansas Looks To Stay Unbeaten In Big 12 At Iowa State

Ames, IA (Sports Network) - Cole Aldrich posted a game-high 19 points and 11 rebounds, as third-ranked Kansas rolled to an 84-61 victory over Iowa State at Hilton Coliseum.

Marcus Morris added 16 points for the Jayhawks (18-1, 4-0 Big 12), winners of four straight since a loss at Tennessee. Sherron Collins had 11 points and six assists .

Marquis Gilstrap poured in 18 points with a game-best 12 rebounds for the Cyclones (12-7, 1-3), who lost for the third time in four games. Craig Brackins recorded 13 points and Justin Hamilton had 11 in a losing effort.

Morris’ jumper roughly 2 1/2 minutes into the second half gave Kansas a 46-29 advantage, then an Aldrich bucket at the four-minute mark extended the edge to 50-32.

Tyshawn Taylor hit a jumper, then was good from beyond the arc to make it 67-45 with 9:37 to play -- the first time in the contest the visitors led by 20-or-more points.

Gilstrap’s three with 4:55 left pulled ISU within 71-56, but a 9-2 run from the Jayhawks from there re-established a 22-point edge with 1:27 on the clock and sealed the Kansas victory.

A 15-4 run late in the first half opened up a 12-point lead for Kansas with seven minutes remaining. Brady Morningstar began the surge with a long three, and Aldrich hit a short jumper in the paint to make it 30-18.

Xavier Henry hit a layup inside the final minute, and the Jayhawks led 38-25 at the break.

Kansas has won nine in a row over Iowa State and holds a 167-58 lead in the all-time series...The Jayhawks hit for 46.8 percent from the floor, and the Cyclones were good for just 37.7 percent.
