Rewind back to Oct. 8, when the Penguins and Flyers last met in Philadelphia. At that time, Penguins defenseman Kris Letang accused Flyers forward Scott Hartnell of biting his finger during a scrum at the end of the third period. Fast forward to this afternoon, and now it’s the Flyers that are making the accusations. Here is what Flyers forward Aaron Asham had to say about Matt Cooke:
Aaron Asham Claims Matt Cooke Bit Him During Game
There was a scrum, I grabbed him. There were two guys on Harts and my glove got tangled in his mouth and he bit me, so I lost it.
It’s not bad, but he’s a gutless guy. I have no respect for him at all. I lined up against him and asked him to fight and he didn’t want to. If you go and bite someone … I just have no use for him.
Whether or not Cooke bit Asham has yet to be proven but given the history between these two teams it would not surprise me. The only way Cooke gets suspended for it though is if there was proof of it, which probably isn’t going to surface.
