Video: Brad Smith’s Option Pass
The Jets currently lead the Colts in the late second quarter, and it’s all because of boldness like this Brad Smith option pass. The 45-yarder to Jerricho Cotchery is only Smith’s fifth NFL pass, and matches his career passing yardage to date.
Originally, I had this as a “wildcat” pass, but Smart Football’s Chris Brown rightly corrected me. The pre-snap motion’s the distinguishing factor of the wildcat, and it doesn’t happen here. Brown has a ton more at the New York Times’ Fifth Down blog about the wildcat, if you’re so inclined.
