President Obama says he hopes the Saints win the Super Bowl for reasons beyond just football; a sentiment I’m sure is shared by many Americans who don’t otherwise have a rooting interest in the game:

↵For those of you without video-watching capabilities, he said, “I think both teams are terrific. I guess I’m rooting a little bit for the Saints as the underdog. Partly just because when I think about what’s happened in New Orleans over the last several years, and how much that team means to them, you know, I’m pretty sympathetic.”
