When news broke of Ben Sheets’ having signed with Oakland this morning, initial rumors surrounding the deal were throwing around an $8m number. However, according to Jon Heyman:

sheets got $10 million plus performance bonuses. not bad after idle '09

Sheets wanted $10m all along, but it seems the A’s were the only team willing to make that sort of commitment. Despite the price, the fans are almost unanimously excited.
