Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Maxim Afinogenov's power-play score early in the third period was the difference, as the Atlanta Thrashers held on for a 2-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks at Philips Arena.

Johan Hedberg made 34 saves for the Thrashers, who snapped a two-game slide. Hedberg has allowed just one goal in each of his last three starts. Colby Armstrong had the other goal in the victory.

Steve Eminger had the lone goal for the Ducks, though Ryan Getzlaf hit the left post with a second left as Anaheim took its second loss in three games. Jonas Hiller had 32 stops in the setback.

In a tie game entering the final period, Atlanta went on the power play after Anaheim defenseman Nick Boynton was called for high-sticking. Near the end of the man advantage, Afinogenov picked up a loose puck at the inside edge of the right circle and fired a shot past Hiller at 4:03 for a 2-1 edge.

The Thrashers got another power play with 1:08 left, but Anaheim pulled Hiller for the extra attacker and nearly took advantage. Getzlaf had the puck in the slot with time running out, and his shot rang off the left post just before the buzzer sounded.

Armstrong put Atlanta on the board at 4:32 of the second period, but Eminger slammed in a loose puck with 2:02 left in the frame to even the score.
