It just wasn’t Trevon Hughes’ night. The Badgers’ leading scorer shot a paltry 3/11 from the field, clanked five free throw attempts, and missed the potential game winning shot, allowing the Boilermakers to escape the upset bid. So Hughes must be feeling pretty sour, right? No, not quite.
Bucky’s 5th Quarter: Badgers’ Hughes Remains Confident Despite Poor Performance
SB Nation’s Wisconsin Badger’s blog Bucky’s 5th Quarter points out that Hughes kept his spirits up in the locker room following his late miss:
But don’t think Hughes will be deterred from taking another game-winning shot in the future. After the game he offered this bold promise:“They have faith to put the ball in my hands, and I didnt come out with it,” he said. “But I promise the next time I am in that predicament, I will.”
Don’t be surprised if Hughes finds himself in a similar situation once again this season. Though talented, the Badgers aren’t about to ignore their best player in crunch time.
