Desperately in search of an offensive coordinator, the Bears are reportedly interviewing Mike Martz. Though Martz has been critical of Bears QB Jay Cutler, the Bears have already been rejected by a number of their top candidates and if the Martz interview goes well, the team could hire the ex-Rams head coach in the next few days as opposed to waiting to interview assistants from the Colts or Saints.
Genius Alert! Mike Martz Interviewing For Bears O-Coordinator Vacancy
From the Chicago Sun-Times:
Former St. Louis Rams head coach Mike Martz is interviewing for the Bears offensive coordinator job today, and the club may make a decision on the vacancy in the coming days.
Martz had spoken to Bears head coach Lovie Smith early in the process, but he finally got an interview today. Minnesota Vikings quarterbacks coach Kevin Rogers is believed to have made a strong impression on the Bears during an interview Thursday, and he or Martz could compel the Bears not to wait for any assistants on the two Super Bowl teams.
Current Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith was an assistant under Martz in St. Louis. Martz's last position was with the 49ers as their offensive coordinator in 2008.
