After taking down Sweden in tonight’s semifinal game 5-2 the USA will get another shot at Canada, this time for the Gold Medal. The two teams played in a thrilling game in pool play last week, with Canada edging the USA in the shootout.
USA To Face Canada For World Junior Championship Gold Medal
↵Last season, Canada routed the Americans in pool play before the U.S. lost to Slovakia in the quarterfinals. The 7-4 loss to Canada seemingly broke their resolve last year, but the 2010 team is more talented and more ready for the challenge to take on the dangerous Canadian team.
↵The U.S. will have their hands full, especially if they are unable to get their struggling power play to finally produce some goals. Against Sweden, the U.S. was locked in a tight 2-2 game until late in the third period; the Americans had blown several power play chances earlier in the game, including a five-minute man-advantage.
