Over at Yahoo’s Dirty Tackle, Brooks Peck addresses Mansfield Town’s promotion for their February 6th match against Gateshead:
Soccer Team: ‘Pay What You Want, Sit Where You Want’
↵↵Mansfield’s owners have decided to give their fans the chance to pay whatever they want to attend the Feb. 6 match against Gateshead, but not only that, they’re going one step further by letting fans sit wherever they want (as long as it’s not a season ticket holder’s seat) in the 10,000-seat Field Mill ground.
↵↵Peck duly notes that this is a pretty Radiohead-esque way of selling tickets. But he also notes that these are the same fans who once rushed the boardroom and assaulted the club’s owner. Their line of thinking, I suppose, is that chaos is canceled out by more chaos. In the interest of self-preservation, I will take up the club’s offer by paying nothing and sitting in the safety of my own home.
