Mike Freeman Leads The Way For Most Erroneous Columns In 2009

For the second year in a row, RealClearSports has come out with their Top 10 Erroneous Columns. It’s their way of keeping tabs on all those wild claims and predictions that sports columnists make. More specifically, the ones that columnists get horribly wrong.

↵This year’s edition features Joe Posnanski predicting the Yankees would miss the playoffs, Dan Shaughnessy saying, “It feels like the Red Sox are going to the World Series” (you’re not gonna sell books with optimism, Dan) and Mike Florio suggesting that the Vikings shouldn’t go after Brett Favre, and instead chase Michael Vick. But the real winner (loser?) of 2009 was Mike Freeman of CBS Sports, who had not one, but two of the Most Erroneous Columns. Freeman claimed that Tebow would be leaving Florida for the NFL (he actually used “Believe it, numbskulls” in the headline), and said the Super Bowl between the Cardinals and Steelers would be “dreadful.”

↵↵Never thought I’d say this but this Super Bowl will be dreadful.

↵Pulling nose hairs, a Vulcan mind meld, a severe case of shingles are all more entertaining than this mess will be.

↵↵To be fair, I said the Patriots had a good chance of going undefeated this season. We all make mistakes horribly bad predictions.
