Sam Young. Earl Clark. Wesley Matthews. Jerel McNeal. Dante Cunningham. Eric Devendorf. LeVance Fields. I could go on.
The Big East Is Ridiculously Competitive ... Again
↵But if anyone saw last night’s hellaciously competitive Georgetown-Marquette game, where Marquette shot 50 percent from three-point range and only won by three points, they’d know the Big East is doing just fine, thank you very much. Maybe there’s not as much starpower. Maybe the conference isn’t quite as top-heavy. But it sure is unbelievably competitive once again.
↵Numbers bear this out too. According to Ken Pomeroy’s ratings, the Big East boasts eight of the top 34 teams in the country. By this logic, nearly one-quarter of the top handful of teams in college basketball play in one conference. And that’s in a down year!
