Rob Schremp Steps Up To the Plate

Rob Schremp may only have three career NHL goals to his name but the third was an indication of how gifted he is and possibly a sign of things to come. A major scorer with the London Knights in his Ontario Hockey League years, the 23-year-old couldn’t affix himself into the Edmonton Oilers organization. With the New York Islanders, Schremp is receiving more ice time and more opportunities to display his talent and it’s starting to show as he’s produced five points in as many matches.

↵Back to the goal which took place in Colorado yesterday. Positioned to the left of goaltender Craig Anderson on the powerplay, a rebound was aired towards Schremp. In complete nonchalance, he knocked the puck down with his glove and swung at it in mid-air well below the crossbar. Not only did he connect, Schremp batted it top shelf above Anderson’s shoulder. You can watch the entire sequence below.

↵After a lengthy review, the goal stood. The former first-round selection in 2004 appears to have finally arrived metaphorically speaking. A lot has been taken away from Schremp in the past be it ice time or proper chances. Nobody can steal this moment of brilliance from him though.
