We move on from our Bengals-Jets simulation to take a look at Saturday’s Cowboys-Eagles playoff match-up. The Cowboys closed out the regular season by thumping the Eagles 24-0, clinching the NFC East, and ensuring that they would play their first postseason game at home. Once again, let’s plug these teams into Tecmo Super Bowl (complete with 2009 rosters) and see whether a 19-year-old video game can offer us any insight.
Cowboys-Eagles, As Simulated By Tecmo Super Bowl And Madden 10
↵For starters, there was a decent amount of this.
↵
↵The result: Eagles 33, Cowboys 10. Donovan McNabb threw three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Tony Romo managed only 43 yards and suffered an embarrassing safety. I hold as much love for Tecmo Super Bowl as the next twentysomething, but I don’t see the score shaking out like this.
↵Now to Madden 10’s simulation, which ended up almost the opposite. The Cowboys won, 30-16. Both Romo and McNabb threw for over 250 yards, but both running games were noticeably weak. If I had to guess, I’d say that Electronic Arts’ baby is closer to the truth here. By Saturday night, we’ll know for sure.
