Rockies’ Miguel Olivo Injured By Backswing, Carted Off Field

During Friday night's Cardinals-Rockies game, Rockies catcher Miguel Olivo was hit in the head by Albert Pujols' bat and carted off the field by team personnel.

Olivo stood up before Pujols had finished swinging, and when he did, Pujols’ backswing hit him in the head. Olivo did not lose consciousness, but as a precautionary measure, the decision was made to cart him off. Video can be seen here.

This season, Olivo has batted .269 with 14 home runs and a .765 OPS. The season may be effectively over for him, but we’ll update as soon as more information becomes available.
