Zlatan Ibrahimovic Still Bitter Over Barcelona Exit

Zlatan_medium

Zlatan Ibrahimovic may well be taking Serie A by storm once more, but the manner of his exit from Barcelona still rankles. On the eve of AC Milan's trip to the Bernabeu for their clash of the titans against Real Madrid in the Champions League, the controversial Swede came out with another beauty of a quote, comparing Barca manager Pep Guardiola to golfer Tiger Woods. 'Guardiola wants to appear perfect in the public eye. So did Tiger Woods. But neither of them are perfect. Nobody is.' Words of wisdom from big Zlatan right there. We await the Pep sex scandal with baited breath. However, he reserved kinder, and altogether more sane words for former boss Jose Mourinho, just as the two prepare to cross swords.

'Mourinho is a winner. He motivated me like no other. Journalists are scared of him, he's far too intelligent for them. He comes prepared and has an answer for everything. He came to Italy, he won and he left.' Whether or not these words came from the heart, or if they were intended to ram home his point about Guardiola, remains to be seen. With Ibra you never know. What's certain is that the striker has a bone to pick with the Barca manager, and he refuses to let the subject go.

‘Guardiola is far too young to coach a group of 22 stars with such different personalities. With Barcelona it isn’t difficult to win, Anyone can.’ You can kind of see where he’s coming from, but what Zlatan fails to realise is that Champions League winning coach Frank Rijkaard had struggled badly with pretty much the same set of players, the year before Pep won an unprecedented sextruplet. Something nobody has done before, or is likely to ever do again. Away from the press conferences Ibrahimovic is having more success, with three goals to his name in this years Champions League. Tomorrow he’ll have a point to prove to his former employers. Ironically, they’ll be only too happy if he does.
