Vikings coach Brad Childress was fined $35,000 for voicing public criticism of the referees who worked during the Sunday night game between the Vikings and Packers. Following the game, Childress called it "the worst officiated game I've ever seen."
Brad Childress Fined For Critcizing Officiating During Game Vs. Packers
The fine was also levied in part because Childress disclosed private conversations he had with the director of NFL officiating. Childress on Monday told the media that he was told by Carl Johnson that the officials were incorrect in overturning the 17-yard Visanthe Shiancoe touchdown catch in the second quarter. Childress said he was also told that a touchdown catch by Packers tight end Andrew Quarless would have been overturned had the Vikings challenged the call on the field.
Because Childress violated the rule about disclosing private conversations with league officials that the Vikings coach is no long eligible to receive explanations about erroneous calls by Johnson.
