Ivan Klasnić was arrested on Monday morning on suspicion of attacking and raping a 17-year-old girl. The police were called to an apartment in Manchester city center to investigate, and arrested the striker some time later. Krasnic was held for questioning by the Greater Manchester Police before being released on bail until November 1.

Klasnić was on loan to Bolton from French side Nantes last season before signing a two-year deal with the Trotters in August. The striker has started just two games for Bolton this season, both of them Carling Cup ties, and is currently serving a suspension earned in his substitute appearance against Stoke, in which he bagged the winner before being booked for two yellow cards. Klasnić has 38 caps for Croatia and twelve international goals. He has yet to feature in Euro 2012 qualification for the national team, who sit second in group F.
Bolton Wanderers have not commented on the allegations.
