History Repeats Itself For Niners Against Falcons As Nate Clements Is Stripped On Interception

Last year, San Francisco’s Dre’ Bly showboated on an interception against the Falcons, and was stripped from behind. The Niners lost that game 45-10.

↵Naturally, the Niners had another fumble on a interception return happen today against the Falcons — but this one swung the game. Nate Clements wasn’t showboating, but he got caught from behind and coughed up the ball on a pick return with under two minutes left in the fourth quarter against Atlanta.

↵To make matters worse, the Niners led 14-13 at that juncture, and Clements could have salted away the game by sliding. Instead, Atlanta made the most of its reprieve, driving down the field and getting a Matt Bryant field goal as time expired to win 16-14. The Niners, it should be noted, remain winless.
