Carolina WR Steve Smith Suffers High Ankle Sprain

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Carolina Panthers Pro Bowl receiver Steve Smith suffered a high ankle sprain in the team’s 16-14 loss in New Orleans on Sunday. Smith left the game with 3:28 left in the third quarter when he made a reception near the Saints sideline.

Two New Orleans defenders appeared to have rolled over Smith’s ankle on the play. Smith sat up holding his leg and did not return to the game.

After the game Smith said, “It’s not broken, so that’s a good thing. We’re just kind of going from there, and we’ll see how it feels in the morning.”

Smith finished the game with two catches for 11 yards.
