Ken Macha Will Not Return As Brewers Manager In 2011

In what shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody, manager Ken Macha will not be returning to the MIlwaukee Brewers in 2011. Writes Tom Haudricourt:

Ken Macha managed his last game for the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday.

Sources familiar with the Brewers’ plans confirmed that the team will not pick up the 2011 option on Macha’s contract. The formal announcement is expected to come Monday.

Macha has been rumored to be on the way out for several weeks, if not months. After making the playoffs in 2008, the Brewers hired Macha to replace Dave Sveum and saw the team drop to 80-82 in 2009 and 77-85 in 2010. The team did not play up to its perceived amount of talent, and though Macha can hardly be faulted for many of the Brewers’ shortcomings, he did not seem to be a good fit in the clubhouse.

With so many teams looking for a new manager, it’s expected that the Brewers will begin their search in short order. Find more over at Brew Crew Ball.
